Summary

The Human Genome Sequencing Center (HGSC) at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) is seeking a highly motivated Research Technician II to join a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment focused on large-scale human genomics. The successful candidate will contribute to cutting-edge genomic research projects involving next-generation sequencing (NGS), data analysis, and the interpretation of genomic variation in health and disease. The HGSC is a world-recognized leader in genome sequencing and analysis, supporting major national and international research initiatives. Job Duties

  • Prepares and conducts laboratory research experiments, including sample processing, nucleic acid extraction, library preparation, and sequencing workflows in a high-throughput genomics environment
  • Collects, compiles, and analyzes experimental and sequencing-related data to support research and production activities
  • Conducts literature searches and summarizes scientific information relevant to genomic studies, sequencing technologies, and laboratory methodologies
  • Documents results of experiments and maintains accurate, detailed laboratory records in compliance with established protocols and regulatory standards
  • Selects, evaluates, and applies techniques used in routine research, including molecular biology and next-generation sequencing methods
  • Orders laboratory supplies, reagents, and equipment; monitors inventory levels to ensure continuity of laboratory operations
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned, including supporting process improvements, troubleshooting workflows, and assisting with team-based projects

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • No experience required
