Job Description
The Global Studies group at Sarah Lawrence College invites applications for a yearlong half-time guest teaching position in Black Atlantic history to begin Fall 2026. We are particularly interested in candidates who can contribute to the college’s offerings of courses in nineteenth-century and twentieth African and African American history.
All applicants should demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate teaching and mentorship, including study abroad. We invite candidates to familiarize themselves with Sarah Lawrence’s distinctive pedagogical model, which often includes one-on-one tutorials as part of most seminars.
Application materials should include: a cover letter, CV, a sample of scholarly work (15-25 pages), two syllabi, and three references who will be contacted for letters of recommendation upon the submission of the candidate’s application.
Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time. This is an in-person teaching appointment, with the expectation that the appointed individual will teach on campus for the duration of the contract period.
Compensation for this position is a per-course rate based on experience.
